Responsibilities
- Obtain quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure
- Implement safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation
- Create and document x-ray CD copies according to Patient First guidelines, including proper labeling of images and sleeves
- Understand and correctly use x-ray and processing equipment
- Use and understand the bell system
- File and maintain all x-ray paperwork
- Ensure patient safety when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment
- Understand and use the Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Copy Listing, and X-Ray Status Screen
- Understand and use the automated medical records system
- Clean work area and perform biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines, plus other maintenance assignments as directed
- Receive, move, and restock ordered supplies
- Adhere to established Patient First policies and procedures
- Address physician and nurse requests respectfully and in a timely manner
- Complete tasks listed on checklists for the x-ray and treatment areas
- Attend training classes and staff meetings as scheduled
- Be available as needed; breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted for patient care and center operations
- Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Keyboarding experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- One year of clerical experience preferred
- One year of clinical experience preferred
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Licensed to practice as a Radiologic Technologist or a Limited Radiologic Technologist by the Virginia Board of Health Professions
- Limited Radiologic Technologist must be licensed to practice in the following anatomical areas: chest/thorax, extremities, skull/sinuses, spine, and abdomen/pelvis
Pay
Salary range: $28.00 - $36.00 per hour, depending on experience.
