About the Role

This position operates X-Ray equipment to assist radiologists and physicians in diagnosing and treating disease or injury. You will play a key role in delivering orthopedic care by ensuring quality diagnostic X-ray images and maintaining smooth workflow and patient flow within the clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic procedures as prescribed by a physician while protecting patients, staff, and self from radiation hazards.
  • Set up and operate radiographic equipment, including implementing infection control procedures.
  • Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis and adjust radiographic controls.
  • Position patients and take X-rays of specific body parts as requested by physicians.
  • Create, check, and retake digital radiological images for clarity as needed.
  • Upload, manage, and burn X-ray images to discs for patients or physicians.
  • Maintain patient records, daily logs, and monthly reports.
  • Perform quality and quantity control checks to ensure X-ray units meet legal and departmental standards.
  • Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment; determine necessary repairs.
  • Maintain and order radiographic supplies.
  • Provide excellent customer service through prompt response and courteous communication.
  • Assist physicians in delivering orthopedic patient care to ensure an excellent patient experience.
  • Determine proper technique by selecting voltage, current, and exposure time.
  • Complete x-ray requests for accurate billing.
  • Actively participate in quality-assurance monitoring and recording efforts.
  • Maintain a neat and sanitary workplace.
  • Operate equipment safely and assist in evaluating and improving systems and protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current state X-Ray Technology certificate or license; RT(R) required.
  • 1-2 years of prior orthopedic radiology experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Excellent patient care and computer skills, including knowledge of EHR systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, surgical procedures, and treatment modalities.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures, protocols, and radiology equipment safety hazards.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, and reach for extended periods.
  • May be required to move or lift patients with assistance to help them turn, stand, or walk.
  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with patients and coworkers.
  • Ability to move about a clinic setting.
