Objectives Of This Role
The X-Ray technician's role is to provide optimal care in a patient-centered environment and to provide subspecialty expertise. Provide top-quality imaging and therapeutic procedures. Assist in the role as a medical assistant when X-ray technician duties are slow.
Responsibilities
- Verifying client identity and reviewing medical staff's orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
- Provide verbal and/or written instruction.
- Correctly position the client in positioning body parts to be radiographed, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
- Adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position.
- Ensuring that the x-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
- Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure patient care, safety, and comfort during scan.
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the client.
- Follow correct techniques and procedures such as client shielding.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs, and placing orders or informing Clinic Manager.
- Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Maintain an accurate record of completed x-ray procedures.
- Adhere to ethical standards of conduct as well as applicable state and federal laws.
- Login into the appropriate radiology site. Label exams accordingly.
- Match any completed reports with the appropriate chart and place in the appropriate location.
- At the end of each day, compare logs with Synapse to ensure all x-rays have been sent and highlighted.
- Wipe down all x-ray equipment and clean films.
- May be required to work at other PRIME clinics and on-site locations.

- City, state, or federal license and/or certification.

Physical Demands

- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
- Work is performed in a medical clinic setting and requires the ability to operate x-ray machines, standard office equipment, and keyboards.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry parcels, packages, climb stairs, and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to other sites and prime clinics and deliver and pick up materials.
