About the role

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. As a Business Developer for the AWS Managed Service Provider (MSP) Program, you will define the strategic direction of how AWS engages with and grows the MSP partner ecosystem. This role has global responsibility and involves influencing and collaborating with a cross-section of AWS leaders including solution architects, partner management, sales, technology, marketing, PR, and executive leadership.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can operate at the intersection of business strategy and partner development, translating bold ideas into scalable initiatives. You bring strong executive presence, the ability to influence without authority, and a bias toward action in ambiguous environments. Data-driven decision-making and excellent communication skills, including public speaking, are key in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the strategic vision for AWS's MSP partner ecosystem, identifying new market opportunities and shaping how AWS and MSP partners co-innovate and grow together.
  • Lead high-impact strategic initiatives from concept through execution — building the business case, aligning stakeholders, and delivering measurable partner and customer outcomes.
  • Engage directly with MSP partners at the executive level to understand their business models, identify growth levers, and co-develop joint strategies that accelerate mutual success.
  • Influence cross-functional AWS leadership (sales, technical, marketing, finance) to align investment and resources behind the MSP strategy.
  • Challenge the status quo, propose bold new approaches to partner engagement, and define what the next generation of MSP collaboration looks like.
  • Develop frameworks to evaluate strategic opportunities, prioritize bets, and measure the impact of initiatives on partner growth and AWS revenue.

A day in the life

You start your day reviewing strategic progress against key initiatives — assessing whether partners are adopting new programs and if joint go-to-market efforts are driving pipeline. You engage directly with MSP partner executives to understand what's working, where friction exists, and what bold moves could unlock growth. You spend time crafting narratives to influence AWS leadership to invest in new strategic directions. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to align them around a shared vision and remove barriers to partner success. You end your day thinking about what's next: the whitespace in the market, unmet partner needs, and the strategic bets that will define the MSP program's future.
