WS - Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant - FWS

About the role

Support Organic Chemistry labs by preparing materials, guiding students, and upholding lab safety. Ideal for students with strong lab skills, attention to detail, and a passion for chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality, be punctual, communicate schedule changes in advance, and wear appropriate attire
• Assist with lab set-up, including making standard solutions and unknowns; operate lab instrumentation independently
• Assist students and answer questions during lab; support inclusivity in a diverse setting
• Manage databases for the chemistry department
• Modify or create handouts for chemistry classes
• Type information, concepts, and formulas to assist students
• Clean glassware in the chemistry laboratories
• Create highly engaging PowerPoint slides, including embedded media and animation
• Ensure all safety regulations are followed by students and self
• Ensure the lab is clean and the equipment is returned and powered off after sessions
• Provide clerical support, proofreading, photocopying, and filing; assist with projects as assigned
• Prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines successfully
• Perform other duties as determined by the supervisor
