Organic Chemistry Lab Student Teaching Assistant I NFWS (26/27)

About the role

This is a student teaching assistant position for currently enrolled students at the University of La Verne. Lab TAs will assist the instructor in the proper functioning of the lab during the session and help students follow proper techniques and safety rules while conducting experiments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the instructor in the proper functioning of the lab during the session
• Help students follow proper techniques and safety rules while conducting experiments
• Be proactive in the lab and model proper laboratory safety at all times, including wearing the proper protective equipment: lab coats, goggles and proper clothing and shoes

Requirements

• Successful completion of CHEM 311/312 with a grade of B- or better
• Mandatory attendance at the weekly lab meetings
• Committed to working both Fall and Spring semesters for a minimum of 10 hours/week

Qualifications

• Recommendation from a Chemistry instructor
• Driven and takes initiative
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Basic knowledge of Excel
• Dependable, reliable, and self-sufficient

Work Schedule

• Position could start as early as the week of August 10th for any needed trainings.
• Fall 2026 lab sections, which meet beginning 8/24/26, are as follows:
• Mon 1:00PM – 5:10PM
• Tues 6:00PM – 10:10PM
• Wed 1:00PM – 5:10PM
• Thurs 1:00PM – 5:10PM
• Thurs 6:00PM – 10:10PM

This position will work 100% on campus.
