Writing Instructor for Summer Camp 2026

The Role

The Writing Instructor will lead classes in various writing courses designed for students in grades 4-12.

Responsibilities

• Guide students through the Education Unlimited writing curriculum
• Teach in small classes (average 6-8 students) to provide personalized attention
• Assist students in one-on-one feedback sessions
• Lead a showcase at the end of camp
• Track student work and hand in deliverables to the camp director and EU home office
• In addition to teaching, assist the camp director with active supervision, recreational activities, and some administrative tasks
• Act as a mentor and lead field trips and excursions

Requirements

• Significant writing experience
• Classroom management skills
• Supportive of student work and excited to help improve writing skills
• Bachelor's degree required; MFA preferred
• Ability to teach various genres
• Publishations and knowledge about the publication process preferred
• A calm and professional demeanor
• The willingness and ability to work long hours
• Self-motivation and follow-through
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong people skills
• A passion for education and writing
