Description

YMCA Camp Classen in Davis, Oklahoma is seeking equestrian staff for seasonal positions. Positions are available for weekdays, weekends, and summer. Applicants must be proficient in horse care tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain CPRPR/AED/O2 and First Aid certifications, renewed annually.
• Complete Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire and renew annually.
• Care for 30+ horses used for weekend trail rides and those not used on weekends.
• Perform daily feedings, lifting and distributing 50-pound bags of feed, watering, monitoring horse health, administering medications, and caring for injuries.
• Maintain tack in clean, safe condition.
• Groom and tack up horses for trail rides.
• Keep stables and surrounding areas clean.
• Follow and instruct others on safety procedures.
• Lead trail rides and provide basic riding and safety instruction.
• Perform other tasks as directed for the benefit of the camp and participants.
• Teach arena riding lessons to summer campers.
• May be required to live in a cabin with campers during summer camp.
• Develop meaningful relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.

Requirements

• Must be certified in CPRPR/AED/O2 and First Aid.
• A CHA certificate is recommended but not required.
