About the Role
The Wound Care Registered Nurse manages and directs wound care needs of patients. The goal of the Wound Nurse is to facilitate healing for present on admission wounds.
Qualifications
- Graduate of a professional school of nursing; BSN preferred
- Current licensure by Tennessee board of nursing or other compact board of nursing
- Demonstrated experience with each of the required areas of expertise
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Current BLS provider certification
Responsibilities
- Develops, revises, and implements ostomy and wound policies and procedures (evidence-based practice)
- Develops, revises, and implements ostomy and wound order sets (evidence-based practice)
- Consults and develops plans of care (per nursing process and scope) for patients with ostomies and wounds (evidence-based practice)
- Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served
- Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills and procedures
- Documents all required components of patient care
- Facilitates and supports ongoing ostomy and wound care education for staff members
- Collects, analyzes, and reports essential information related to wound prevalence, wound incidence, and departmental operations to appropriate bodies
- Leads and/or participates on performance improvement teams
- Acts as liaison between Centennial Medical Center and internal/external customers
- Supports the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values
