Responsibilities
- Oversight of all direct wound care activities to ensure consistency.
- Identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of skin care in residents.
- Management and treatment of specific skin disorders.
- Coordination of weekly skin rounds.
- Assessment evaluations through observation and inspection.
- Collaboration with the Care Planning Team in developing the care plan.
- Administration of treatments according to established wound care protocols.
- Maintenance of preventive measures such as inspections, turnings, and positioning.
- Precepting new nurses and demonstrating individual procedures.
- Ordering and tracking the usage of supplies and equipment.
- Modifying treatment regimens to meet resident needs.
- Participation in Performance Improvement programs, such as wound and nutrition committees.
- Conducting in-service training classes on dermatologic nursing skills and procedures.
- Providing information to residents and caregivers on prevention techniques.
- Engaging in positive interpersonal interactions and facilitating effective communication.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Maryland.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience.
- Active certification in wound care.
- Prior experience with resident's skin care in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Proven leadership skills for smooth unit/area operations and quality resident care.
- Effective communication skills for positive interpersonal interactions.
