About the Role
The Wound Care Nurse supports the nursing team by coordinating comprehensive wound assessments and management plans, educating patients, families, and staff, and acting as a resource for wound care and prevention strategies. Additionally, they facilitate infection prevention and control programs, chair committees, compile and analyze infection data, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves developing policies, providing staff training, and collaborating with physicians and management to improve care quality.
Responsibilities
- Perform wound assessments, develop treatment plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Educate on wound prevention, dressings, and therapies
- Support infection prevention initiatives, including data collection and reporting
- Develop and implement policies aligned with regulatory standards
- Act as a resource for clinical staff and physicians regarding wound management
- Coordinate patient care and participate in quality improvement activities
- Ensure documentation and compliance with infection control guidelines
Requirements
- Current RN license; wound care certification preferred
- Experience in skilled nursing and wound management
- Strong assessment, communication, and customer service skills
- Knowledge of wound care standards, infection control, and clinical products
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support quality initiatives
