About the role

We are seeking a Workplace Violence Prevention Consultant to implement workplace violence prevention programs with a focus on evidence-based de-escalation strategies for both clinical and non-clinical healthcare employees. This role involves delivering specialized training for security personnel, developing training materials, conducting incident debriefings, collaborating with internal subject matter experts, and participating in the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Implement workplace violence prevention programs with a focus on evidence-based de-escalation strategies for both clinical and non-clinical healthcare employees.
  • Deliver specialized training for security personnel, including advanced de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution skills, and appropriate use of control and intervention strategies.
  • Develop, update, and manage training materials—presentations, handouts, e-learning modules, and job aids—to support continuous workforce education.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance are integrated into prevention initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, presenting data, program activities, progress updates, and strategic recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Education, or related field.
  • Required Master's Degree in relevant subject area.
  • Preferred 3 years Experience in violence prevention, de-escalation, crisis management, or a related field within a healthcare setting.
  • Required Experience in training program development and facilitation, preferably in workplace violence prevention, conflict resolution, or de-escalation techniques.
  • PREFERRED Experience working with or training security officers.
  • PREFERRED Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor certification (Crisis Prevention Institute) within 6 months.

Pay

Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000 annually.

Schedule

100% FTE; Day Shift. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Based at University Hospital in Madison, WI.
