About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Workover Rig Consultant to oversee and manage field-based well intervention and workover operations. This role serves as the company representative on location, ensuring all activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives.

Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Act as the primary company representative on workover rig locations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily workover and well intervention activities.
  • Ensure operations are conducted in compliance with approved programs, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor rig performance, operational efficiency, and contractor productivity.
  • Oversee activities including:
    • Tubing and rod replacements
    • Pump changes
    • Well cleanouts
    • Re-completions
    • Plug and abandonment (P&A) projects
    • Fishing operations
    • Well integrity repairs
    • Other remedial well intervention activities

Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on location.
  • Conduct pre-job safety meetings and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Ensure adherence to company HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Verify contractor compliance with applicable safety regulations and industry standards.

Contractor & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate activities among rig contractors, service providers, and operations personnel.
  • Monitor contractor performance and service quality.
  • Review field tickets, operational reports, and invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintain clear communication between field operations and management teams.

Technical Support

  • Review workover programs and recommend operational improvements.
  • Troubleshoot downhole and surface equipment issues.
  • Support efforts to optimize well productivity and reduce operational downtime.
  • Ensure proper well control practices are maintained throughout all operations.
  • Monitor equipment performance and well integrity.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare accurate daily operational reports.
  • Track operational progress, performance metrics, and costs.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed and equipment utilized.
  • Document lessons learned and provide recommendations for future operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of oil and gas field experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct supervisory or consulting experience in workover rig operations.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Workover rig operations
    • Well servicing equipment
    • Well control procedures
    • Completion and production operations
    • Artificial lift systems
    • Wellhead equipment
    • Rod pump and gas lift systems
  • Proven experience supervising contractors and service providers.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Petroleum Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • IWCF or IADC Well Control Certification.
  • H2S Awareness Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Experience supporting unconventional oil and gas operations.
  • Familiarity with state and federal oilfield regulations.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Cost control and operational planning experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.

Working Conditions

  • Field-based role with frequent travel.
  • Outdoor work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, rotational schedules, weekends, and holidays as operational demands dictate.
