Working Lead Technician

Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
- Lead and assist shop technicians with daily workflow, repair priorities, and technical support.
- Assign jobs and monitor repair progress to ensure timely completion.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and manufacturer specifications are met.
- Communicate with service advisors, parts department, and management regarding repair status, parts needs, and job completion timelines.
- Mentor and train technicians and apprentices on repair procedures, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain accurate service documentation, work orders, and labor reporting.
- Ensure shop cleanliness, organization, and compliance with all safety regulations.
- Operate equipment and vehicles safely during testing and inspections.
- Aid with field service support when required.
- Support dealership goals related to productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or diesel-powered machinery.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of: diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical and electronic controls, powertrain and drivetrain systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.
- Experience with OEM diagnostic tools and computer-based troubleshooting systems.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in shop and field environments.
Preferred Certifications
- OEM equipment certifications
- ASE Diesel Certifications
- CDL License
- Welding or fabrication experience
- MSHA certification
