About the role
The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) is seeking a Workforce Specialist to join the Employment Services (ES) division. ES programs aim to enhance the labor market by matching job seekers with employers. The Workforce Specialist will serve at the SC Works Centers, providing services such as career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance. They will also collaborate with Business Consultants to place job seekers in suitable positions and promote SC Works services through various community events.
Responsibilities
- Educate individuals on DEW programs, policies, and services
- Absorb all services within the SC Works Center
- Perform resource room activities and outreach
- Ensure timely, professional, and attentive customer service
- Collaborate with co-workers, management, and partner staff for scheduling activities
- Refer qualified applicants to jobs posted through SC Works
- Work directly with Business Consultants to match customers and clients to position openings
- Develop relationships with community resources for seamless referrals
- Promote SC Works services through community and center workshops and activities
- Provide ongoing support to SC Works Centers and all Workforce programs
Requirements
- A high school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience in customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of experience in customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field preferred
- Experience with customer service, recruitment, selection, interviewing, counseling, case management or a related field
- Ability to travel to Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter counties as needed
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: High school diploma with minimum four years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience

Pay
The hiring salary for this position is $40,800 per year.

This position requires scheduled travel to the following counties: Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee, and Sumter.
