About the Role
The Workforce Consultant serves within the Employment Services (ES) division, which improves the labor market by connecting jobseekers with employers. The SC Works system provides career guidance, job referrals, assessments, and résumé assistance to jobseekers, while offering free tools like job postings, candidate recruitment, and market trends to employers. This role is part of the WorkLink Region and performs customer-focused case management and career planning to identify and address barriers to employment.
This position requires scheduled travel to Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties.
Responsibilities
- Conduct needs assessments and assist in developing Individualized Employment Plans.
- Provide career counseling, work search activities, and skill advancement information.
- Assist with ES programs such as Wagner-Peyser, TAA, MSFW, and the Veteran Services Program.
- Greet customers, perform initial assessments, and refer them to appropriate programs.
- Provide workforce services operated by DEW in SC Works Centers.
- Support Resource Room duties and refer work-ready clients to Business Consultants.
- Run applicant searches and provide ongoing client support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in career counseling or related case management; OR a high school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience in client-centered case management, counseling, or a related field.
- Perform case management, Resource Room assistance, client services for jobseekers and employers, and outreach as outlined in the Region Plan.
- May require periodic overnight travel and evening/weekend work.
- Must drive routinely as part of the job.
