Workers Compensation Technician

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days working remotely after onboarding and training

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the administration of the County's self-insured Workers' Compensation Program, including supporting complex claims management
  • Managing medical-only workers' compensation claims from intake through resolution
  • Supporting the County's Return-to-Work (RTW) program by coordinating employee return-to-work efforts
  • Coordinating schedules with departments and subject matter experts for workplace safety training programs
  • Entering new workers' compensation claims into the Risk Management Information System (RMIS)
  • Maintaining claim files, documentation, and confidential employee records with accuracy and discretion
  • Assisting with the County's Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program, including conducting weekly equipment inspections and replacing batteries and electrode pads as needed
  • Supporting the County's DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program by coordinating administrative processes
  • Preparing workers' compensation reports, correspondence, and related documentation

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with general office practices and administrative procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases, and virtual meeting and collaboration tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • The ability to interpret and apply department and County policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality work
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with employees, partner agencies, and the public
  • A commitment to maintaining sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience with data entry, records management, and maintaining accurate files and documentation
  • The ability to review claims, investigate discrepancies, and verify the accuracy of forms and supporting documentation
  • A basic understanding of Workers' Compensation, HIPAA requirements, workplace safety programs, return-to-work processes, DOT drug and alcohol testing, and applicable Workers' Compensation regulations
  • Dependability and a commitment to regular, predictable attendance

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Two years (2) of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required
  • Possess reliable transportation to be able to work in any County facility as needed and required
