Workers' Compensation Specialist

As a Workers' Compensation Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient communication between providers, patients, employers, and insurance representatives while managing patient workers' compensation matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient workers' compensation matters and related tasks to ensure care is scheduled appropriately and free from complication.
- Answer and return workers' compensation insurance calls promptly and professionally.
- Verify workers' compensation coverage.
- Obtain prior authorizations for surgeries, MRIs, and other diagnostic testing as needed.
- Coordinate appointments with adjusters and medical facilities.
- Send office notes daily to case managers, adjusters, and employers.
- Document all interactions with patients, case managers, and employers accurately in the patient's medical record.
- Coordinate causation, impairment ratings, and IME requests and appointments.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of medical office insurance and/or workers' compensation experience is preferred.
- Strong phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
- Proficiency working with computer applications, software programs, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Solid foundational computer skills, including accurate typing.
- Working knowledge of insurance payers and medical terminology.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
