Workers' Compensation Specialist

As a Workers' Compensation Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient communication between providers, patients, employers, and insurance representatives while managing patient workers' compensation matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient workers' compensation matters and related tasks to ensure care is scheduled appropriately and free from complication.
• Answer and return workers' compensation insurance calls promptly and professionally.
• Verify workers' compensation coverage.
• Obtain prior authorizations for surgeries, MRIs, and other diagnostic testing as needed.
• Coordinate appointments with adjusters and medical facilities.
• Send office notes daily to case managers, adjusters, and employers.
• Document all interactions with patients, case managers, and employers accurately in the patient's medical record.
• Coordinate causation, impairment ratings, and IME requests and appointments.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA rules and regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of medical office insurance and/or workers' compensation experience is preferred.
• Strong phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficiency working with computer applications, software programs, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Solid foundational computer skills, including accurate typing.
• Working knowledge of insurance payers and medical terminology.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
