Responsibilities
- Manage workers' compensation defense matters from inception through resolution.
- Represent clients at hearings, depositions, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Develop litigation strategies and evaluate claims throughout the life of each case.
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and other litigation-related documents.
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Independently manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Meet monthly billable hour requirements while maintaining high-quality legal representation.
- Travel as needed for hearings and other litigation proceedings.
Qualifications
- Active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
- 2+ years of workers' compensation defense experience preferred (1 year may be considered for strong candidates).
- Experience handling hearings, depositions, and workers' compensation litigation matters.
- Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple active cases and deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
