Responsibilities

  • Manage workers' compensation defense matters from inception through resolution.
  • Represent clients at hearings, depositions, settlement conferences, and trials.
  • Develop litigation strategies and evaluate claims throughout the life of each case.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
  • Independently manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Meet monthly billable hour requirements while maintaining high-quality legal representation.
  • Travel as needed for hearings and other litigation proceedings.

Qualifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
  • 2+ years of workers' compensation defense experience preferred (1 year may be considered for strong candidates).
  • Experience handling hearings, depositions, and workers' compensation litigation matters.
  • Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple active cases and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
