About the role

A well-established law firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Attorney to join its growing practice in North Carolina. This role offers the opportunity to manage a full caseload while working closely with experienced partners representing employers and insurers across a wide range of industries. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent writing ability, and the ability to manage cases independently while maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a workers’ compensation defense caseload from initial claim through resolution
  • Conduct depositions of claimants, lay witnesses, medical providers, and expert witnesses
  • Draft and respond to motions, briefs, and discovery
  • Review and analyze medical records and claim files to develop case strategy
  • Represent clients at mediations, hearings, and other proceedings before the North Carolina Industrial Commission
  • Investigate claims and perform legal analysis on new and existing cases
  • Negotiate settlements and prepare client reports as required by insurers and risk managers
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients, including insurance adjusters and risk managers

Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar
  • 2+ years of Workers’ Compensation defense experience required
  • Experience taking depositions and participating in mediations preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
