About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation defense attorney to join their Columbia office. The opportunity is with an established firm that has built an impressive reputation as one of the region's largest litigation and dispute management practices with several locations across North Carolina and South Carolina. Responsibilities
- Manage comprehensive workers' compensation defense caseload
- Conduct thorough legal analysis of incoming and existing claims
- Perform detailed case investigations and strategic medical record analysis
- Handle all phases of discovery, including drafting responsive pleadings and motions
- Conduct depositions of parties, lay witnesses, medical professionals, and expert witnesses
- Prepare for and argue cases before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission
- Maintain ongoing relationships with insurance adjusters, risk managers, and corporate clients
- Draft compelling briefs, motions, and legal arguments supporting client positions
Requirements
- 3+ years of workers' compensation defense experience
- Proven track record of handling cases before the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission
- Ability to manage a substantial caseload independently and with self-direction
