About the role

The Workday Senior Certified Payroll Consultant will lead complex implementations, configure solutions, and guide clients through successful adoption of best practices. You will work closely with project teams, clients, and technical specialists to design scalable payroll, absence, and time tracking solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Workday payroll implementations while supporting clients throughout their transformation journey.
  • Lead or support Workday implementation activities, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, prototyping, testing, and knowledge transfer.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand business needs and configure Workday solutions aligned with operational requirements.
  • Support data conversion activities by working with client teams to migrate legacy data into Workday.
  • Aid integration teams with configuring and testing connections between Workday and third-party or custom systems.
  • Ensure functional solutions support downstream data requirements and integration compatibility.
  • Resolve complex functional challenges and provide guidance to project teams when additional expertise is required.
  • Mentor consultants, share product knowledge, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Support proposal preparation, product demonstrations, and client-facing presentations.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by ensuring successful adoption, satisfaction, and long-term engagement.
  • Provide regular project updates, communicate risks, and highlight opportunities to improve project outcomes.
  • Recommend innovative approaches, tools, and methodologies to improve Workday deployment efficiency.
  • Maintain active Workday certifications and stay current with platform updates and best practices.

Requirements

  • Active Workday Partner Payroll Certification required.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing Workday Payroll, Absence, and/or Time Tracking (PATT) solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous consulting experience within a software, technology, or professional services environment.
  • Experience configuring and deploying Workday, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, ADP, Ultimate, or similar enterprise applications.
  • Strong functional knowledge of payroll, absence management, and/or time tracking processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, timelines, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Ability to gather business requirements, analyze processes, and translate needs into scalable solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and design improved workflows.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with confidence working directly with clients.
  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to delivering high-quality consulting experiences.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies through training and self-directed learning.
  • Experience supporting multiple HCM or payroll implementations simultaneously is a plus.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% depending on project requirements.
