About the role

The Workday Security Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday's security configuration within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

Responsibilities

  • Configure, manage, and maintain Workday security roles, groups, and access controls aligned with organizational policies.
  • Develop, document, and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve security-related issues and access concerns for end-users.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, and business teams to translate security needs into effective system solutions.
  • Support SOX audit requirements, ensuring compliance with access and change management standards.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for security configurations, processes, and incident resolutions.
  • Identify and resolve system errors or process flaws; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Provide internal support including custom reporting, dashboard building, and troubleshooting data access issues.
  • Aid in HR initiatives, including the implementation of new or enhanced HR programs.
  • Maintain data integrity and security role compliance within Workday through periodic audits.
  • Stay current on HRIS and Workday best practices, attending Workday Community and user group events to identify system optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent change management documentation for HRIS configurations.
  • Participate in system migrations, updates, and enhancement sessions to support ongoing system evolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, HRIS, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of HR/HRIS experience and 3+ years of Workday experience across multiple functional areas (HCM, Benefits, Security, Absence, Time Tracking, Reporting).
  • 3–5 years of Workday Security implementation/configuration experience, including business process and integration security groups.
  • 2+ years of data analysis and reporting experience using Workday Report Writer, calculated fields, and advanced Excel.
  • Proven ability to manage security groups, domain permissions, and authentication policies, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Strong background in role-based and user-based security configuration, with expertise in designing custom security domains.
  • Proficiency with Workday EIB templates, data loading, and Excel-based data manipulation.
  • Workday Security certification preferred.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting, documentation, and project management skills.
  • Experience handling confidential HR data.
  • Consulting experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities and capacity to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
