Work Planner
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an opportunity for a Work Planner supporting TOS II at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The Work Planner will be part of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
About the role
The successful candidate will function as a Planner-Scheduler in the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) function, supporting multiple facilities across the Propulsion area. This position requires initiative and independent judgment to select and apply established principles and procedures within assigned functions across the TOS II contract. The majority of time will be spent in an office environment, with periodic site visits to gather information.
Responsibilities
- Build, publish, and status crew schedules.
- Analyze work requests to determine proper priority using the civil engineering priority system and initiate the work management process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for compiling, recording, updating, and maintaining current data from the work management system, including emergency work tasks, work requests, work orders, preventive maintenance, and projects.
- Develop and generate reports or documents as requested by the Government, assigned shops, or others.
- Perform data analysis using MS Office tools and other programs as necessary.
- Participate in review and preparation of data required for the monthly work plan.
- Communicate with personnel via handheld radio for emergencies and urgent service orders.
- Support other Work Control staff and management as needed.
- Use independent judgment to perform duties based on experience, education, and training.
- Review estimates for compliance with overall project objectives.
- Proficient use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Oversee and maintain physical security protocols by administering the key control program, including managing issuance, tracking, and secure storage of physical keys, and maintaining an accurate key inventory database.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communicate effectively with a variety of people in diverse situations.
- Complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
- Adhere to established company operating policies, procedures, and industrial practices.
- Contribute to the company’s safety culture.
Creating Job Packages
- Evaluate assigned work orders for scope, details, and requirements.
- Communicate with requesters, engineers, and other knowledgeable personnel regarding identified work.
- Perform job site walk-downs to identify and document necessary details for developing a job plan.
- Develop detailed job plan packages for craft personnel, including:
- Estimates of crew, craft, man-hours, and work duration.
- Clear and concise steps to perform work, including critical steps and quality requirements.
- Tools and equipment needed, including specialized tools.
- Safety hazards and requirements (e.g., LOTO, PPE, special work clearance).
- Material or part requirements, including stocked or ordered items.
- Coordination with other crews or personnel.
- Downtime/outage requirements.
- Previously developed instructions, drawings, diagrams, or technical documents.
- Work with Craft Leads, Superintendents, or Material Controllers on staging materials or parts.
- Review actual work against the original plan and incorporate feedback from craft personnel.
- Maintain and update the AEDC Job Plan Library by data mining, posting improved job packages, and developing new ones as requested.
- Participate in improvement projects related to planning, scheduling, and work management.
Requirements
- Applicable technical degree/diploma/certificate, or associate’s degree in a technical discipline and five years of progressive and relevant experience, or any equivalent combination totaling nine years.
- Able to work self-directed with limited daily oversight.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, motivation, and organization.
- Ability to write job plans, reports, business correspondence, and work procedures.
- Clear and effective communication with craft personnel, superintendents, planners, engineers, vendors, OEM suppliers, and management.
- Ability to learn PC systems, office software applications, and CMMS.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical data, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation drawings, schematics, diagrams, equipment manuals, and vendor information.
- Ability to analyze cost (man-hours), methods, and steps required to perform craft work within a structured budget.
- Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required by supervisory direction and company policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Applicable technical degree/diploma/craft certificate, or associate’s degree and 12 years of progressive and relevant experience, or any equivalent combination totaling 14 years.
- Demonstrated experience in planning small or large jobs at AEDC, especially related to electrician or IT construction work or facility operation.
- Experience with Electrician or IT craft skills and specialized tasks.
- Knowledge of all AEDC craft skill sets, specialized skills, and jurisdictional guidelines.
- Knowledge of AEDC industrial work processes, facilities, and equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CMMS.
- Leadership capability, including leading job execution and/or planning.
- Proficiency with PC systems and office software applications, including Email, Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project, and Primavera.

Pay
$80,000 - $117,000 per year for full-time roles at the Tennessee location.
