About the role
The Work Control Assistant serves in the Work Control office by inputting work orders submitted by staff and residents working and living in University Housing, which provides on-campus housing options for 9,000+ students. This position is responsible for scheduling inspections and repairs for the low-speed vehicles in University Housing’s fleet. Monitors the purchasing of fuel for the fleet. This position acts as the back-up for the Work Control Manager in their absence. They will also assist in overseeing the student and temp workers.
Responsibilities
- Creates work orders with the expected degree of independence and with limited mistakes.
- Effectively communicates and collaborates in a professional and consistent manner with a wide variety of individuals such as building service workers, residence hall staff, students/families and other team members via telephone, in writing, or in person.
- Works closely with residential building service managers, maintenance supervisors, skilled trades and utility workers regarding work requests.
- Interacts in a professional and consistent manner with a variety of customers and colleagues via customer virtual service desk, telephone and/or in person to coordinate work.
- Contacts with UGA Facilities Management Division Work Control when assistance is needed to complete work requests.
- Attaches police reports to the appropriate work orders involving damage due to vandalism.
- Serves as the Work Control Manager in their absence.
- Assists with managing a fleet of vehicles for University Housing.
- Schedules repairs for low-speed vehicles through a vendor.
- Schedules bi-annual inspections of low-speed vehicles and visually inspects each of those vehicles during the inspections.
- Affords assistance in giving student and temp workers assignments or projects.
- Completes all training requirements and participates in team activities.
- Affords assistance in creating the yearlong schedule for maintenance on-call.
- Performs other duties consistent with the purpose and scope of this position, which may be assigned.

- Works as a team member but also makes effective independent decisions and follows through on assignments.
- Utilizes a variety of computer applications in the completion of assigned tasks, including but not limited to OneSource, the Microsoft Office Suite, UGA email and employee websites.
- Adapts to a fluctuating work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate.
