Woodshop Associate

About the role

The Woodshop Associate is responsible for cutting, gluing, finishing, and building stair components from wood blanks. They also handle material loading and unloading for their equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cut, glue, build, and finish wood stair parts
• Understand blueprint drawings and build layouts
• Identify wood species, thickness, grain, and mill quality
• Work with team members to build orders and resolve obstacles
• Read tape measure to the 1/16"
• Operate machinery such as table saws, chop saws, shapers, planers, drill presses, routers, and hand tools
• Ensure proper housekeeping
• Assist at other machines within the department as needed
• Assist in other departments in the plant as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years related experience in construction, contracting, carpentry, woodworking, or cabinetmaking
• Carpentry and Woodworking Certifications are a plus
• Maintain math skills including fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
• Read blueprints and perform a flat layout
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
