About the role
The Woodshop Associate is responsible for cutting, gluing, finishing, and building stair components from wood blanks. They also handle material loading and unloading for their equipment.
Responsibilities
- Cut, glue, build, and finish wood stair parts
- Understand blueprint drawings and build layouts
- Identify wood species, thickness, grain, and mill quality
- Work with team members to build orders and resolve obstacles
- Read tape measure to the 1/16"
- Operate machinery such as table saws, chop saws, shapers, planers, drill presses, routers, and hand tools
- Ensure proper housekeeping
- Assist at other machines within the department as needed
- Assist in other departments in the plant as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years related experience in construction, contracting, carpentry, woodworking, or cabinetmaking
- Carpentry and Woodworking Certifications are a plus
- Maintain math skills including fractions, decimals, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Read blueprints and perform a flat layout
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
