Wood Yard Manager (Birmingham, Alabama)
Job Summary
The Wood Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the wood processing facility, including production management, employee leadership, quality assurance, financial oversight, and operational efficiency.
Essential Job Functions
Lead, develop, and manage production teams while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Direct daily production operations and personnel scheduling.
Cook up logistics and workflow to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Monitor facility performance and implement operational improvements.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
Ensure product quality consistently meets established standards.
Identify process improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and coordinate repairs or maintenance as necessary.
Support operational uptime and equipment reliability.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of management experience in manufacturing, processing, railroad, or related industrial environments.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and operational reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of quality assurance practices and process improvement methodologies.
Basic mechanical troubleshooting and operational equipment knowledge preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
Ability to perform repetitive hand motions and repeated movements.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to walk on uneven terrain and move throughout an active industrial environment.
