About the role
Roof Structures Inc. is seeking a Wood-Frame Construction Detailer / Material List Creator for their Fremont office. This position is essential for supporting estimating, project management, and field execution with accurate plan review, clean material lists, and organized construction documentation.
Responsibilities
- Review architectural and structural drawings with a high level of accuracy
- Create detailed framing material lists and scope breakdowns from project documents
- Support construction detailing, drawing coordination, and document control
- Review addenda, revisions, and shop drawings and communicate changes clearly to stakeholders
- Aid with Request for Information (RFI), substitutions, and plan clarification items
- Cook up with estimators, project managers, suppliers, architects, general contractors, and field teams
- Draft detail sketches or markups as needed
- Organize and distribute current drawing sets and project documentation
- Help ensure field teams receive accurate, updated construction information
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in construction detailing, material takeoffs, drafting support, or similar project coordination work
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
- Experience creating material lists, quantity takeoffs, or framing-related scope breakdowns
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred
- Direct experience with wood framing, structural carpentry, panelized systems, or related commercial framing work
- Familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Procore, and drawing management platforms
- Basic AutoCAD or drafting skills
- Ability to identify conflicts, omissions, and scope questions before work moves forward

Pay
$85,000–$120,000+ per year with potential year-end bonus
