Job Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the rehabilitation of student athletes.
  • Referrals to health services including counseling services.
  • Assistance in examinations and screenings.
  • Work with Beacon Orthopedics, TriHealth, and other health-care providers, and Xavier Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Service and other relevant entities to support student athletes.
  • Weekly reporting of injuries to and other relevant parties.
  • Assume responsibility for one team sport (Women’s Basketball), as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, which shall include attend all practices and competitions for the team sport; attend the Big East Championship and any additional tournament advancements for all sports for whom they have been assigned.
  • Assist with sports medicine coverage of other Xavier Athletics events as scheduled.
  • Perform a variety of specific medical techniques (dry needling, Graston technique, IV solutions).
  • Oversee daily athletic training room operations under the direct supervision of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine which include Exercise rehabilitation and therapy programs.
  • Medical record keeping.
  • Requisition, storage, distribution, and maintenance of supplies.
  • Inventory and budget allocation.
  • Make yearly purchase requests as directed.
  • Track of supplies.
  • Aid the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with:
    • On-site testing and implementation of drug education.
    • The annual Coaches’ Safety Training.
    • Data monitoring (i.e., Kinexon, SWAY).
    • The day-to-day care and oversight of the Training Room Pharmacy.
    • Supervise Student Athletic Trainers assigned to the Xavier Sports Medicine Facilities:
      • Assignments.
      • Training.
      • Teaching.
      • Evaluating.
      • Liaison to Clinical Coordinator for yearly in-service for Athletic Training Students.

Job Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or Master's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program required.
  • Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC), or eligible to obtain certification.
  • Current state athletic training license (Ohio), or eligible for licensure.
  • Professional resecure CPR/AED Certification.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
