About the Role

Join the Women-Children Float Pool as a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) on the night shift. This role involves providing high-quality, individualized care to women and children across various units, ensuring adherence to nursing standards, regulatory guidelines, and institutional policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the health status of assigned patients as outlined in the Nursing Standards.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care based on patient assessment and the Multi-Disciplinary Plan of Care.
  • Provide direct patient care or direction and supervision to other health team members to ensure proper implementation of care in accordance with the NJ Board of Nursing, regulatory guidelines, the ANA Code of Ethics, and institutional policies.
  • Teach patients and significant others about health/illness state and plan of care.
  • Prepare patients and significant others for discharge and health maintenance in the home setting.
  • Ensure all procedures are performed based on established Standards of Care.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing all procedures within your scope of practice for patients across the life cycle (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
  • Understand and implement the range of treatment needed by these patients.
  • Document all aspects of patient care.
  • Initiate emergency procedures as needed.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, patient safety, comfort, and cleanliness.
  • Administer medications and parenteral therapies in accordance with SPUH policies.
  • Assume a leadership role consistent with your scope of practice.
  • Report all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences following SPUH policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of and participate in Nursing Quality Improvement Activities.
  • Serve productively in Hospital/Divisional/Unit organizations.
  • Use problem-solving methods to resolve issues impacting Nursing care.
  • Participate in education and development activities and maintain professional credentialing.
  • Participate in Unit orientation programs.
  • Participate as a reviewer in the peer review process.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • One (1) year of experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred.
  • BLS certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) certification Part I required as defined by primary specialty unit assigned.*
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) certification Part II obtained during clinical orientation as defined by primary specialty unit assigned.*
  • ACLS certification obtained during clinical orientation.
  • PALS certification obtained during clinical orientation.
  • ECG course obtained during clinical orientation.

Pay

Salary Range: $57.00 USD per hour. We offer competitive base rates determined by job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. Additional compensation may include clinical certification pay and shift differentials. The listed range reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
