Responsibilities
- Solicits quotations, negotiates with vendors, issues purchase orders, monitors on-time delivery, escalates and resolves supply chain related issues.
- Forecast and maintain appropriate inventory levels for assigned categories following lean manufacturing principles.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and continuously evaluate for quality and reliability.
- Purchase and supply chain support for various departments within Alkegen including but not limited to: Operations, Accounting, Receiving, Maintenance, Engineering, Customer Service, R&D, and Quality.
- Schedule transportation to and from vendors as well as other Alkegen worldwide sites.
- Issue Supplier Scorecards and maintain the Global Risk Matrix database for assigned sites.
- Participate in external and internal audit activities for TS16949 quality standards.
- Lead vendor onboardings for both plant and corporate requirements.
- Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills.
- Exercise professional judgment, handle confidential material, and manage a diverse workload.
- Continuous improvement of purchasing systems.
- Maintain Alkegen's highest level of safety standards on site including identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Embody Alkegen's core safety principles including but not limited to The Seven Safety Absolutes, use of PPE, and Safe Standards of Work at all times.
- Champion safety in the workplace each day.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or other related fields.
- A minimum of 3 years of Purchasing, Demand Planning, and Inventory Management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- 3 years of MRP/ERP and Microsoft Office software experience.
- Must have knowledge and experience with both domestic and international shipping, domestic receiving, and the use of 3PL’s.
- Basic contract interpretation.
- Purchasing experience in an automotive & industrial manufacturing setting.
- Fundamental accounting and finance knowledge.
- Experience with subcontractors and off-site warehousing.
