The Wakefield facility is one of the largest production plants within Michael Foods, serving as a flex plant capable of producing whole pasteurized eggs, liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.
About the Role
The Dryer Packager position is responsible for the proper packaging, sealing, labeling, and stacking of finished product containers, as well as maintaining overall cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas. This role ensures compliance with safety work rules, food safety, and quality policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas, including daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
- Confirm and verify final weights of finished products.
- Ensure proper packaging, sealing, labeling, and stacking of finished product containers.
- Read and comprehend batch records for solids and recon used, as well as batch sequencing.
- Prepare and perform pre-operational inspections.
- Understand and meet overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) targets for products being produced.
- Complete and verify all required production documentation, ensuring supervisor or lead approval at shift end.
- Perform hourly case weight checks and apply corrective actions as needed.
- Demonstrate advanced mechanical troubleshooting and collaborate with maintenance personnel.
- Follow start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Monitor the packaging crew for quality, correcting and reporting any deficiencies.
- Read and understand purchase orders (POs) and follow SAP report procedures.
- Perform metal detector checks at required frequencies and report deficiencies.
- Communicate effectively during shift hand-offs with oncoming or off-going shifts.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safe work practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Maintain sanitary conditions and ensure product quality is upheld.
- Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a company forklift certification; forklift experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Demonstrates open and honest communication and maintains positive interpersonal relationships.
- Able to work independently or in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, willing to ask questions, and seek direction.
- Displays responsible behavior at work and is open to change.
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments, and around required cleaning solutions.

- Able to stand on hard surfaces for most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop or crouch, grasp, and reach.
