About the Role

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, specializing in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. Our Wakefield facility is one of the largest production plants within Michael Foods, serving as a flex plant capable of producing a variety of products, including whole pasteurized eggs, liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper packaging, sealing, labeling, and stacking of finished product containers.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas and equipment.
  • Confirm and verify final weights of finished products.
  • Understand and meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets for produced products.
  • Complete and verify all required production documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Perform hourly case weight checks and apply corrective actions as needed.
  • Follow start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Communicate effectively during shift hand-offs with oncoming or off-going shifts.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety policies.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions and product quality; report any conditions that may adversely affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Operate a forklift and obtain/maintain a company pallet jack license.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education (required).
  • Prior manufacturing experience (preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license.
  • Experience with pallet jack and/or forklift (preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using American units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively in a team or independently.
  • Self-motivated, open to change, and willing to ask questions or seek direction.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces for most of the shift, ascend/descend stairs, bend, stoop, crouch, grasp, and reach.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments, and around required cleaning solutions.
