About the Role

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, specializing in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. Our Wakefield facility is one of the largest production sites within Michael Foods, operating as a flex plant capable of producing whole pasteurized eggs, liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper packaging, sealing, labeling, and stacking of finished product containers.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of dryer areas and equipment.
  • Confirm and verify final weights of finished products.
  • Understand and meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets for produced products.
  • Complete and verify all required production documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Perform hourly case weight checks and apply corrective actions as needed.
  • Follow start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Communicate effectively during shift hand-offs with incoming or outgoing shifts.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety policies to maintain sanitary conditions and product quality.
  • Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety to management.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Operate a forklift and obtain/maintain a company pallet jack license.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Less than high school education required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license; forklift or pallet jack experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using American units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, vendors, or employees.
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively in a team environment or independently.
  • Self-motivated, open to change, and willing to ask questions or seek direction.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments, including exposure to cleaning solutions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to stand on hard surfaces for most of the shift, including bending, stooping, crouching, ascending/descending stairs, grasping, and reaching.
