About the project
The project "CDRnext", funded by the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), examines ways to integrate Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) methods into EU climate policy, incorporating perspectives from companies, member states, and international partners. Within the project consortium, the SWP's focus is on analyzing the interrelationships between international CDR governance and the architecture of EU climate and energy policy, as well as developing strategic options for expanding CDR with long-term storage and the necessary market design that could be applied in the revision of EU climate protection instruments for the period 2031-2040.
Your tasks
- Tracking and analysis of European and international governance mechanisms and policy instruments in the field of CO₂ removal
- Close collaboration with colleagues in partner institutions and within the SWP research cluster on climate and energy policy
- Contributing to peer-reviewed academic publications
- Scientific policy advice for political and administrative bodies as well as international organizations
Your profile
- Successfully completed relevant social science university degree (Master's); a doctorate is desirable
- Proven expertise and relevant publications in the subject areas of climate policy and CO₂ removal
- Ability to prepare and present research findings in a target-group-oriented, structured, and concise manner, for example for political decision-makers
- Experience in scientific policy advice is desirable
- Very good English skills and proficient command of German in written and spoken form
- Initiative and responsible approach to work, outstanding organizational and communication skills, strong team orientation, and experience in interdisciplinary and cross-thematic collaboration
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany and abroad
