Responsibilities
- Hands-on experience with the design, engineering, configuration, deployment and maintenance of Cisco wireless hardware and software including Wireless Lan Controllers (WLC), Cisco Access Point Radios (AP), Cisco Client Radios
- Hands-on experience working in Cisco CLI
- Excellent knowledge in routing, switching, RADIUS, 802.1x, and CAPWAP protocols
- Working experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) is required; knowledge of Cisco DNA Center and Cisco Prime is a plus
- Extensive experience with RF survey tools, wireless system design, and architecture is required
- Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi standard (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and RTLS is a plus
- Hands on experience with Cisco outdoor wireless antenna configuration, including gain, directionality, polarization and SIA
- Hardware installation best practices to mount, height, cabling, weatherproofing and orientation
- Interface and coordinate as needed with the Navy’s AMI team to make sure the meters are fully operational and report back to their assigned systems
- Program, test, and troubleshoot the components of the AMI system to include EI smart meters, Cisco/other wireless radios, Cisco field switches and 2.4/5.8 GHz wireless antennas
- Terminate all necessary cabling to include Fiber and/or CAT5/6
- Inspect existing wireless radio, antenna and cabling infrastructure to ensure proper installation, deployment and sizing
- Sustain the Navy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) field installation points, perform On-site survey of installed systems, assess system operational status, travel expected to be 50% or more monthly
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Department of War (DoW) SECRET (or higher) security clearance
- Associate’s degree or higher; At least five (5) years’ relevant working experience may be substituted for a degree
- Cisco Certifications: CCNA (minimum); CCNP/CCIE Wireless (preferred)
- Security+ Certification
- Minimum of four (4) years’ proficiency in a systems/infrastructure engineering and/or technical infrastructure support role in LAN/WAN/WLAN administration
- LAN/WAN/WLAN/SDN technologies knowledge
- Other wireless technologies and mobile presence (e.g., Aruba) and Wireless (Wi-Fi 2.5/5.8Ghz) experience
- Significant and successful experience in designing various IT solutions and implementation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and manage several independent projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with the Navy’s AMI Metering Program
- Electric meter (socket type) programming/replacement
