About the role

The Wire Cutter position is available at Rexel USA's Mayer team in Birmingham, AL. Employee compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience, knowledge, and capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment.
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures, Environmental Health and Safety Rules, and immediately address safety concerns.
• Perform daily machine checks and operate material handling equipment and powered material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner that meets company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity.
• Retrieve and cut wire efficiently and accurately for requested customer shipments.
• Examine wire for conformance to specifications and remove defective pieces.
• Fill all orders efficiently and accurately. Ensure outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
• Place reel of specified wire onto payout spindle of machine and thread wire through feed rolls. Adjust machine controls to regulate factors such as wire thickness, pressure, heat, and cutting and stripping length.
• Stack/store merchandise in the appropriate area and stage wire cuts in the appropriate shipping area.
• Report any damage to electronic hardware, work machines, or pipe racks immediately to a supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of wire cutting experience preferred.
• Prior warehouse or distribution center experience a plus.
• Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment preferred.
• If required to make deliveries: Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must pass a pre-employment and annual review of their Motor Vehicle Record.
• Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
• Must not have had a suspended drivers' license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years.
• Must not have any at fault accidents in the past 3 years.
• High School or GED - Preferred.

• Knowledge of Radio Frequency scanning devices preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.
• Ability to handle basic issues and problems.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately complete job tasks.

• Able to meet deadlines.
• Basic computer knowledge.
