Winter International Student Experience (WISE) at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) offers a short-term academic program for international students during the winter semester.

About the Program

Courses

  • Korean Language (beginner to advanced levels)

Schedule

  • Program duration: 3–4 weeks (typically mid-December to early January)
  • Course registration opens: October–November
  • Orientation and welcome session: first day of the program
  • Classes held Monday–Friday (morning and afternoon sessions)
  • Cultural activities and excursions on select weekends

Tuition & Fees

  • Tuition: KRW 1,800,000 (approximately USD 1,400–1,600, subject to exchange rates)
  • Application fee: KRW 100,000 (non-refundable)
  • Housing (optional): KRW 600,000–900,000 for the program duration
  • Additional costs for cultural activities, meals, and personal expenses

  • On-campus dormitories (shared rooms, limited availability)
  • Off-campus housing assistance provided
  • Early application recommended due to high demand

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at a recognized institution
  • Good academic standing (GPA of 2.5/4.0 or equivalent)
  • English proficiency (non-native speakers: TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, or equivalent)
  • No Korean language proficiency required for English-taught courses
