About the role
The Winery Stockroom Worker I is responsible for stocking wine and merchandise in a fast-paced retail environment at the Winery. This includes tasks such as stockroom inventory and floor/shelf displays, bin maintenance, liaising with the retail central warehouse and visual merchandising staff, and working with the retail inventory control team to anticipate and forecast stock/inventory needs.
Responsibilities
- Stock items throughout the day to ensure the sales floor is adequately stocked, utilizing pull sheets from the prior day's sales.
- Tracks inventory and displays throughout the day to determine restocking needs.
- Ensures items are properly displayed and maintains the original intent and look of all displays.
- Processes and distributes wine and merchandise deliveries from the Retail Central Warehouse & Wine Production.
- Promptly answers radio calls throughout the day from the sales floor.
- Exhibits proper phone/radio etiquette as outlined in the retail orientation guidelines.
- Provides an exceptional guest service experience for each guest.
- Offers assistance as needed to guests with locating merchandise.
- Offers assistance to guests as needed with transportation and loading of large items to their vehicle.
- Executes stockroom bin maintenance following the guidance of the Stockroom Supervisor.
- Maintains a daily schedule of cleaning and organizing the stockroom to maintain neatness in the area.
- Maintains and prepares food & drink samples for the Winery and other Retail Outlets.
- Operates POS and assists Winery Retail Assistants with bagging & wrapping when additional guest service is required at registers.
- Maintains adequate wine stock levels on the Retail Floor through restocking shelves and replenishing cases.
- Maintains a positive, cooperative, and professional attitude at all times.
Qualifications
- Previous retail, inventory, and/or customer service experience strongly preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have had at least (6) months of prior retail inventory or guest service experience in an upscale/luxury setting.
- Exceptional guest relations and verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic math skills and the ability to operate inventory management systems and point of sale (POS) systems.
- Previous experience with inventory control procedures, loss/shrinkage practices, and/or merchandising delivery protocols preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class guest service.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest service environment as part of a team.
- Ability to anticipate guest needs, be proactive, and take initiative where appropriate.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and multitask.
- Should be comfortable with creative problem-solving.
- Forklift certification, or the ability to obtain forklift certification within the first year, is required. Annual recertification required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push/pull between 50-100 lbs. daily
- Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching overhead, and down below for long periods of time
- Agility, stamina, accurate vision, and hearing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders as needed.
