Windows Systems Administrator and Vulnerability Management Coordinator
About the role
Install, configure, patch, monitor, back up, and maintain Windows Server operating systems across physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted environments. Manage file systems and storage using volume management techniques; monitor and optimize file system performance. Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability while performing operating system tuning and optimization.
Support on-premises VMware vSphere workloads and assist with workload migration and transition into Microsoft Azure. Manage Windows Server environments hosted in Azure and other cloud platforms. Utilize cloud-native tools such as Azure Monitor, Azure Update Management, and Defender for Cloud to maintain system health, performance, and compliance.
Configure and maintain Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related Windows services across hybrid environments. Harden systems in accordance with cybersecurity policies, standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements. Identify, remediate, and resolve operating system security vulnerabilities. Manage domain user accounts, permissions, and role assignments.
Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 3 incidents and service requests while coordinating with customers and vendors as needed. Automate administrative and operational tasks using PowerShell, Ansible, and related automation tools. Maintain enterprise source code and configuration repositories using GitLab.
Provide 24x7 operational support and participate in on-call activities as required. Document system changes, incidents, and problem resolutions using Configuration Management and ITSM tools. Develop and provide knowledge transfer documentation to support operational continuity. Participate in Agile and DevSecOps initiatives supporting infrastructure and platform services.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support technologies including Azure VMware Solution (AVS), VMware vSphere, PowerShell, Ansible, GitLab, Carbon Black, CyberArk, Defender, Remedy, and ServiceNow.
- Support Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 environments across VMware, Azure, AWS, and GCP platforms.
Requirements
- Minimum of SIX (6)+ years of overall work experience.
- Engineering-level experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server in enterprise data center environments.
- Experience managing Windows workloads in Microsoft Azure, including hybrid cloud environments and workload migrations.
- Experience supporting VMware-based infrastructure and virtualization platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution efforts for complex technical issues.
- Experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders to deliver operational solutions.
- Experience with Ansible.
- Strong experience with PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation.
- Experience using automation tools, with Ansible preferred.
- Experience supporting and maintaining Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other core Windows services.
- Working knowledge of cloud monitoring, security, and compliance tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Exceptional customer service and client support capabilities.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, time-management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience operating within ITIL-based service management environments.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to participate in 24x7 support activities and occasional on-site response requirements.
- U.S. Citizenship is required in accordance with this contract.
- Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal "PUBLIC TRUST".
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure VMware Solution (AVS) or similar hybrid cloud hosting models.
- Experience supporting cloud platforms beyond Azure, including AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools such as Carbon Black, CyberArk, Microsoft Defender, and related security technologies.
- Experience with GitLab-based source code and configuration management practices.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
- Experience with ITSM platforms including ServiceNow and Remedy.
- Knowledge of security accreditation, compliance, and system hardening processes within federal environments.
- Experience participating in enterprise cloud modernization or migration initiatives.
- Microsoft, Azure, VMware, ITIL, Security, or automation-related certifications.
