About the role

CEIS | Government is seeking a Windows Server Engineer to support critical Information Technology infrastructure at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. This position plays an essential role in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise Windows server environments supporting one of the nation's most important national security missions. The ideal candidate will have experience administering Windows Server infrastructure within large enterprise environments and possess a strong background in Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, virtualization, system security, and enterprise server administration. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced IT professionals while supporting complex, mission-critical systems in a highly secure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Windows Server infrastructure across enterprise environments.
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and other core Microsoft technologies.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell and Ansible automation scripts to improve system administration and operational efficiency.
  • Configure and support enterprise applications running within Windows Server environments.
  • Perform operating system deployments, software installations, patch management, and system updates using Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM) and related technologies.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and resolve complex server-related incidents.
  • Support virtualization platforms and enterprise storage solutions, including SAN and NAS environments.
  • Ensure systems remain compliant with cybersecurity requirements, vulnerability management programs, and organizational security policies.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and rotational on-call support for critical infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and user support materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, cybersecurity, and IT support teams to implement new technologies and infrastructure improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Windows infrastructure within medium to large organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of: Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience with Windows patch management and operating system deployments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills supporting enterprise server environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM).
  • Experience with Ansible automation.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).
  • Familiarity with SQL Server environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage technologies including SAN and NAS.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within highly regulated government, defense, nuclear, or national security environments.
