Windows Systems Engineer

Direct hire, full-time hybrid role located in Dublin, CA.

About the Role

The Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for Windows Server and Virtualization Infrastructure design, engineering, and ensuring stability, scalability, and security of solutions and their interoperability with existing infrastructure. This role participates in enterprise-wide projects and serves as a subject matter expert in a large Windows server environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis, design, testing, and deployment of Windows Server and Virtual Machine Infrastructure.
• Deploy and administer server hardware, including rack-mount servers, blades, and blade chassis infrastructure.
• Apply advanced PowerShell scripting and cloud scripting capabilities.
• Execute Tier 3 level troubleshooting and diagnose complex infrastructure issues.
• Design and develop standards and roadmaps; communicate and obtain consensus across architecture, engineering, and operations teams.
• Independently manage and perform engineering roles for Windows infrastructure initiatives and projects.
• Support audit and compliance deliverables.
• Develop detailed technical design and implementation documentation.
• Analyze current Windows Security Baseline deployments to identify challenges and recommend improvements.
• Lead or participate in complex or high-severity troubleshooting and incident/problem resolutions with other infrastructure teams.
• Translate business needs into workable solutions for enterprise customers and Operations teams.
• Identify opportunities to streamline repetitive processes and introduce efficiencies in technology infrastructure delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 7-10 years of experience in Windows system design, implementation, and 3rd-level production support activities.
• Minimum of 5 years of Windows Server engineering and virtualization experience.
• Strong technical and hands-on experience with Windows Server Technology (Windows 2019, 2022, and 2025 Servers), Hyper-V and ESX virtualization, Windows Clustering, Domain Controllers (Active Directory), LDAP, DNS, DHCP, SSL, networks, DMZs, and network security zones.
• Experience with server hardware, including rack-mount servers, blades, and blade chassis infrastructure.
• Experience working on on-premises and cloud infrastructure platforms.
• Proven ability to coordinate technical efforts and resolve issues across multiple teams as a subject matter expert.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills, including the ability to communicate technical challenges and solutions effectively to peers, customers, and senior management.
• Strong time management and analytical skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and manage multiple streams of work simultaneously.
• High sense of responsibility and willingness to support systems during non-standard work hours.
• Team-oriented, yet able to work independently; experience working with distributed teams across geographies and time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HPE Hardware (Synergy blades/chassis, HCI, etc.).
• Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure and Azure cloud.
• Microsoft and/or networking certifications.
• Experience with SQL Server deployments.
• Working knowledge of LDAP, Certificate/CA/PKI infrastructure.
• Experience with 3rd party management and monitoring solutions (SCCM, SCOM, Dynatrace, HP OneView, and others).
• Ability to apply ITIL v3 Foundation concepts in the workplace.
• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.

Pay

$60 - $70 per hour.
