About the role

This role provides L2-L3 operational support for global Manufacturing Execution System (MES) infrastructure operating within OT-controlled environments across North American and global manufacturing sites. The role ensures availability, performance, patching, backup/restore, and disaster recovery of MES platform services while operating under strict IT/OT separation, cybersecurity, and production uptime constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability and performance of MES platform services
  • Patch and manage virtualization platforms (VMware and/or HyperV)
  • Support high-availability OT workloads
  • Perform backup and restore operations for OT/MES systems
  • Implement and monitor disaster recovery strategies
  • Monitor storage and performance for latency-sensitive MES workloads
  • Manage core OT-adjacent infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, NTP, and certificate services
  • Collaborate with vendors, integrators, OT security, and infrastructure teams
  • Document runbooks and ensure knowledge transfer for repeatability and audit readiness
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in stability, resilience, and risk reduction

Requirements

  • Advanced Windows and Linux server administration in production-critical environments
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and/or HyperV)
  • Working knowledge of MES backend components (SQL Server, historians, reporting services)
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell and/or Bash)
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills under time-critical production pressure
  • Clear, calm communication with shopfloor personnel, site leadership, and central OT IT teams
  • Experience supporting manufacturing MES or OT-adjacent systems
  • Demonstrated experience operating systems where downtime has direct production and financial impact
  • Proven track record of operating systems where changes must be coordinated with production schedules, validation requirements, and OT cybersecurity controls

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of hands-on server administration experience
  • Tribal knowledge of sitespecific manufacturing behavior
  • Experience working within change-controlled security-governed environments

Pay

Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, performance, and internal equity.

Schedule

Onsite presence in Minnetonka, Minnesota is mandatory and non-negotiable. The role requires regular physical presence to support plant operations, interface with manufacturing and engineering teams, and respond immediately to production-implementing incidents. Flexibility to support North American multisite operations, including off-hours or extended coverage when production demands require it, is required. Remote-only or hybrid arrangements do not meet the operational requirements of this role.
