Brief Overview

The Product Line Sales Specialist generates and secures new sales within a specific product line to increase the profitability of the company. They maintain existing accounts while generating new business in the product line through cold calls and following leads.

What You Will Do

  • Develops and assists sales managers in establishing short and long-term growth plans and targets for the specialty product line.
  • Researches and communicates sales forecasts for the product line and works with the Sales Manager to set performance goals.
  • Aids in developing a timeline for the rollout of product lines to the market.
  • Identifies opportunities for customer and product line expansion.
  • Develops new customer accounts through cold calls, working potential customer lists, contacting subcontractors, and reaching out to companies who previously rejected proposals.
  • Functions as the key sales contact for customers, offering and selling a full breadth of the product line through the inside support at the Company’s locations.
  • Coordinates with Inside Sales Support in managing quoting, orders, deliveries, and communications with Outside Sales Representatives.
  • Mentors outside sales representatives on new product line offerings and encourages them to work with their outside reps for other products.
  • Suggests new products to the market based on competitor activity.
  • Maintains positive relationships with manufacturer field personnel.
  • Attends and participates in company-sponsored training programs.
  • Represents the company at trade association meetings to promote business and develop relationships.
  • Aids in pricing special orders with the local sales team and advises on price changes from manufacturers.
  • Communicates price levels to inside sales roofing specialists to ensure consistency across locations and reps.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and communicates price quotations, terms of sale, delivery dates, and service obligations to customers/contractors.
  • Solves customer complaints and problems.
  • Aids in the collection of accounts receivable.
  • Estimates materials from blueprints provided by customers/contractors.
  • Adheres to conflict of interest or non-compete agreements if applicable.

Education Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • An associate's degree in a related industry is preferred.

Experience Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of sales experience in building materials or a related industry is required.
  • At least 2 years of sales experience in the specific product line is required.

Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to read, interpret, and estimate from blueprints.
  • Ability to use a calculator and computer.
  • Ability to negotiate prices and contractual agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook.

Licenses and Certifications

  • A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel 75% of the time and perform according to the requirements of the position.
