Winder (AC/DC Electric Motors)

Louis Allis manufactures industrial electric motors for some of the most demanding applications worldwide. We are looking for 1st shift winders (6:00 am to 2:30 pm) to join our team at our Warrior, Alabama facility.

About the role

Rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment and perform electrical testing of motors in a climate-controlled facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of cleaning and stripping operations to prepare AC and DC motor parts for rewinding.
• Perform operations to wind coils, insulate, insert coils, and connect standard AC stators.
• Perform operations to wind coils, insulate, insert coils, and connect DC armatures and field frames.
• Operate specialized repair and/or testing equipment including burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklifts, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
• Perform Level C field service work at customer sites.
• Observe all safety procedures and use personal protective gear.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas.
• Understand machine lubrication, maintenance, and proper operation.
• Perform electrical AC and DC motor tests using equipment such as Meggers, hi-pot, OHM meters, bar-to-bar tester, and AC and DC test panels. Testing is performed upon receipt of units and as required, including baseline statistics and performance verification upon work completion.
• Perform shaft vibration analysis.
• Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by the shift lead, plant manager, and/or president.

Requirements

• Requires periods of standing up to 3-4 hours at a time.
• Ability to lift 30+ lbs.
• Preferred minimum level of education: high school diploma.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to understand, perform, and retain various skill-related training and operational and safety procedures demonstrated by the shift lead, plant manager, and/or president.
