Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of safety awareness
- Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily
- Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
- Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer
- Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
- Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
- Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines
- Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation
- Maintain all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner
- Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo Basic
Qualifications
- Wind Technician - Level I: High School/GED, complete Level I job performance measures and training within 1 year
- Wind Technician - Level II: High School/GED, (3+) years of related work experience, pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period
Desired Qualifications
- AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study
- Experience with Siemens 2.3 turbines
- Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies
- High voltage and substation maintenance experience
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
- Certified in Microsoft Office including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
- CPR and AED Training Certification
- TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
- Forklift certified
Working Conditions
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards
- Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, or solvents
- Exposure to all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)
- Ability to lift 75lbs individually
- Ability to climb and work on turbine towers with heights up to 400 ft. daily
- Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles
