Wind Technician I or II (Cimarron II Wind Farm)

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of safety awareness
• Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily
• Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
• Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer
• Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
• Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
• Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines
• Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation
• Maintain all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner
• Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo Basic

  Qualifications

  • Wind Technician - Level I: High School/GED, complete Level I job performance measures and training within 1 year
  • Wind Technician - Level II: High School/GED, (3+) years of related work experience, pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period

  Desired Qualifications

  • AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study
  • Experience with Siemens 2.3 turbines
  • Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies
  • High voltage and substation maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Certified in Microsoft Office including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
  • CPR and AED Training Certification
  • TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
  • Forklift certified

  Working Conditions

  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards
  • Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, or solvents
  • Exposure to all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)
  • Ability to lift 75lbs individually
  • Ability to climb and work on turbine towers with heights up to 400 ft. daily
  • Ability to operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles
