Wind Technician I (All Levels) at Monarch Creek Wind in Haskell, TX

About the role

This is a permanent wind technician position located in Haskell, Texas. As a Wind Technician, you will be the critical front line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, as well as long-term reliability and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Execute Safety Management System procedures and instructions, conduct field work in compliance with OSHA regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture
• Work outdoors and at heights inside and outside of the elements
• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical components such as relays, breakers, contactors, cards, and hardware
• Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical components such as motors, gear drives, and other mechanical parts
• Perform routine annual preventative maintenance of wind turbine components
• Operate the tablet provided to each technician
• Collaborate closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation-focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance
• Recruit and develop other technicians for ongoing team development
• Support the site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, maintenance, financial reporting, and turbine availability
• Present a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with customers
• Participate in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects
• Actively participate in career development and Partners in Performance programs driving annual merit and incentives rewards
• Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
• Complete electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
• Maintain all company-supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
• Apply advanced understanding of technical and process functions as well as a basic understanding of Quality Improvement (QI) processes
• Provide oversight to other personnel and act as a Safety Mentor
• Demonstrate mastery of process and technical skills and problem-solving expertise
• Meet attendance requirements
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• 3+ years of experience in a technical field, OR completion of a technical certificate/degree program
• Ability to climb wind turbines up to 300 feet
• Post-offer Functional Capacity Evaluation
• Valid Driver’s License (non-CDL)
