HVAC Technician, Commercial
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on assigned commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults on HVAC equipment
- Clean, adjust, and repair HVAC systems and related components
- Replace belts, filters, motors, relays, switches, thermostats, and other common parts
- Support service calls involving RTUs, AHUs, exhaust fans, unit heaters, VAVs, pumps, and similar equipment
- Aid in troubleshooting boilers, chilled water systems, and larger tonnage equipment based on experience level
- Use common HVAC trade tools safely and effectively
- Maintain daily service logs, work orders, and maintenance records
- Comply with safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and customer site rules
- Provide professional communication with customers, dispatch, and internal team members
- Work independently on routine PM/service calls and team with senior technicians on larger or more complex repairs
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid, unexpired driver’s license
- EPA 608 certification required
- At least 1 year of HVAC experience, or equivalent hands-on trade school / apprentice training with field exposure
- Basic ability to use common HVAC trade tools such as multimeters, gauges, charging charts, and hand tools
- Basic understanding of HVAC electrical and mechanical systems
- Willingness to work in a field-based commercial service environment and learn from senior technicians
About the Role
The HVAC Technician I / II performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and minor installation support on commercial HVAC and mechanical systems in accordance with customer requirements and safety standards. This role is intended for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for a developing Level I technician, with preference given to candidates who bring stronger Level II commercial service experience.
Work Environment: Field-based role with travel to multiple customer locations
Commercial facilities environment
May include rooftops, mechanical rooms, schools, hospitals, offices, industrial or mission-critical spaces
Overtime, on-call, and emergency response may be required depending on business needs
Technicians in this role may support a range of commercial equipment including rooftop units, air handling units, VAV systems, pumps, boilers, chilled water systems, and related controls, depending on experience level and assignment.
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00
