About the role

This is a traveling wind tech position based out of Flagler, Colorado. As a Wind Field Service Technician, you will be the critical front line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance, diagnostics, as well as long-term reliability and profitability of wind turbines. This position will require 100% traveling within the area supporting multiple wind sites.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Operation Safety Policy Instructions, conduct fieldwork in compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) applicable regulations, encourage good employee safety practices, and drive an unparalleled employee safety culture
  • Participate in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects
  • Recruit and develop other technicians for the ongoing development of the team
  • Support site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, financial reporting, and turbine availability
  • Collaborate closely with internal NextEra users to develop and implement operation-focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance
  • Present a positive professional representation of NextEra Energy in the community and with the customer
  • Travel extensively with little or no notice within the entire company fleet
  • Perform maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
  • Perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Maintain all company supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling
  • Complete Safety Mentor training curriculum within 6 months of initial hire
  • Complete Wind Field Service Technician III training curriculum within first year
  • Meet attendance requirements
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License (non-CDL)
  • Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
  • Post-offer Functional Capacity Evaluation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $24.62 to $36.92 per hour. This range represents the expected base pay for a successful candidate and is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and internal equity.
