William M. Colmer Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse

The William M. Colmer Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse is a prominent historic building in downtown Hattiesburg, MS. The renovation of the existing building will enhance the security of the existing courthouse by interior renovation and construction of a new building addition. The existing building will be modified to create a more secure entry and security screening area, security and safety improvements, and upgrades to the existing building’s enclosure to include new windows, façade cleaning, exterior lighting, and enhanced perimeter visibility. The modern building addition will be complementary to the historic architecture of the existing building, while framing and elevating the importance of the new entry. The addition includes a new public egress stair tower, defendant elevator, enhanced security screening, new Judges’ parking, and new USMS Vehicle Sallyport.
